The Friends of Jefferson Library is a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to supporting Jefferson Parish libraries through fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement. Whether you can give a few hours a year or want to get more deeply involved, there’s a place for you here.
Volunteer opportunities vary based on Friends membership status, so you can choose the level of involvement that works best for you.
Friends members enjoy expanded volunteer opportunities and play a hands-on role in our ongoing operations and programs. These roles help sustain our bookstore, online sales, and organizational outreach throughout the year.
Opportunities may include:
These roles are ideal for members who enjoy behind-the-scenes work, organization, research, or creative communication—and who want to make an ongoing impact.
Not a member yet? You can still get involved!
Non-member volunteers are invited to help during our semi-annual book sales, one of our biggest and most important fundraising events.
Book sale volunteer roles may include:
These events are a great way to support the Friends, meet fellow book lovers, and see firsthand how your time helps support Jefferson Parish libraries.
Becoming a Friends member opens the door to additional volunteer opportunities and helps sustain our mission year-round. Memberships directly support library programs, collections, and community initiatives—and they make it possible for us to do even more.
The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library is an independent, nonprofit organization of civic-minded volunteers that supports the Jefferson Parish Library by promoting library awareness, providing needed unbudgeted items for all its branches through fundraising, and participating in literacy programs.
